Dear Needham Girl’s Softball players and coaches,
This year Needham Girl’s Softball will be partnering with Frozen Ropes in Natick to provide us with programs that will help develop skills in both our players as well as our coaches. The past several years we have had great success with pitching clinics. As a result, we have some really great pitchers coming up through the system.
We have expanded our winter program at Frozen Ropes to include a new hitting and fielding clinic in addition to our successful pitching clinic. These Sunday afternoon programs will begin in December and you can participate in either the pitching clinic or the hitting/fielding clinic, or both! There will be two sessions of each, which will run from December 7 to February 8 and from March 1 to April 12.

Other benefits in the pipeline include:
- Frozen Ropes Membership Cards - Each Needham Girl's Softball registered player will be given a Frozen Ropes League Membership Card that will have a $30 credit on it and can be used for any Frozen Ropes program (including the winter hitting/fielding clinics and the pitching clinics). These cards will also act as frequent buyer cards at Frozen Ropes that will provide credits to our league and enable us to offer more programs or scholarships.
- Coaches Training - Frozen Ropes will run a Coach’s seminar exclusively for current and prospective Needham Girl’s Softball coaches at a time to be determined in the early spring.
The Coach's Clinic will be open to all moms and dads that will be coaching this spring (or would like to coach, but don’t know how). Topics that will be covered are how to run a practice and how to teach the girls the fundamentals of softball. There will be no cost for this instruction.
- Coaches Certification - Frozen Ropes will make their on line coach’s training programs available to Needham Girl’s Softball coaches which will enable our coaches to earn the Amateur Coaches Alliance (ACA) certification.
Coaches will be able to build on coaching skills learned in the coaching seminar by completing an online instructional course complete with videos that show the coach how to help the kids improve their skills.
The cost of this program will be borne by our league and we are hoping to get as many certified coaches as possible to upgrade the level of instruction in the league.
- In-Season Clinics in Needham - We hope to schedule some in season clinics during the spring. Frozen Ropes would come to Needham to conduct instructional clinics to develop skills on our own fields. More information will follow as we learn more about this program.
- Summer Softball Camp/Clinic - Also in the planning stages is the possibility of a week long Needham Frozen Ropes Summer Camp/Clinic at one of our fields.
- Fall Softball - And farther out in the planning stages is an Instructional Fall Softball Clinic next year right here in Needham run by the folks at Frozen Ropes. It would be a six-week instructional program where the focus is on skills development.
